Founded in 2007 as a non-government, not-for-profit research and development organization Agrarian Research Foundation (ARF) has been playing a key role in building cooperative network between the government, private sectors, farming communities and individuals in order to find solutions for improving rural economy while preserving natural resources and environment. Bangladesh agriculture is at crossroads. Agricultural production is becoming more and more technology dependent and market oriented. Rapid transformation of subsistence farming into commercial agriculture has changed rural economy. Generating information and technology for increasing quality agro-products in response to market demand is more relevant for agricultural research than meeting family or domestic needs. Both technology and policy is the research domain. ARF acts meeting gap between the demand and public sector delivery in research and development. ARF contributes to learning and innovation in the field of agriculture and allied sciences through research, development, and impact evaluation, and providing services including consultancy and advocacy. ARF also engages in public debate and policy dialogs for improving production and making market work for farmers and producers.
